Saying Hello To The Baker Boy Hat And Goodbye To My Insecurities.

Saying Hello To The Baker Boy Hat And Goodbye To My Insecurities.

I rarely step outside of my comfort zone, but it is something I’m trying to work on. I get easily self-conscious and even the smallest quirky outfit detail can make me want to cringe when I see someone look at me on the street I will automatically think because of the way I have my makeup or the teddy style boots I’m wearing ( I’m adapting  to my teddy boots I got them for £1 in Primark it might be my greatest buy of all time I am WEARING THEM!)

So when I saw such amazing photos of people rocking the newest baker boy hat tread I so desperately wanted to jump on board, I mean they look so chic and stylish and I wanted a piece of that action!

So a few weeks back I had just finished a fantastic bloggers brunch and I was wondering around Oxford street with my newest blogger companion Kate and we just popped into Topshop for a quick browse before she had to catch her train and there it was staring me in the face, a whole big ass table just full of baker boy hats.. They had every colour and almost every sort of material, So, of course, I was automatically drawn and spent a good 20 minutes trying them on with Kate and I wanted one so badly my heart was set on just the plain old simple black baker boy hat, but of course I looked in the mirror and even though I loved it it was that voice inside of my head telling me I looked ridiculous, that everyone would think I looked like a wannabe. So I put the hat back and continued to browse the flagship Topshop store, and just as we was going to pay I just had this urge to go back and get it even if I was only going to wear it around the house..
So off I trotted back to the baker boy hats and picked up the one I had my heart set on originally, even my friend Kate wanted to get one but she also felt like she would look ridiculous, even though she looked incredible! and the next day she actually did mention how gutted she was that she never picked one up herself! ( TOLD YOU GIRL! )
After leaving Topshop and saying goodbye to Kate all the way home I couldn’t wait to get home and try on my new hat and also try and style it with some outfits and honestly it really wasn’t all that difficult it actually goes with most outfits which I was hugely surprised about.

That was over 3 weeks ago and I have worn it every chance I’ve got. The first Sunday after buying it I went to wear it out the house and chickened out, and how ridiculous! it’s a hat, Katharine.. it’s just a hat, and then the next day I went out with my cousin to watch the greatest showman, which by the way is one of the most amazing films I’ve ever seen and yes I have seen it twice, and i was litrally carrying it around in my bag still scared to put it on my head, untill I tried it on for her and expected her to burst into laughter or tell me it looked nice with the sort of voice that tells you they are just saying it to make you feel better, but stright away she was telling me I was stupid for not wearing it and how good it looked. The amazing thing about my cousin is that I know when she’s telling the truth and I do believe her and she’s always had that really good thing about her where she just makes you feel more confident about yourself and always reminds you of your worth and she just always seems to uplift me, so I put the hat on and rocked it! we even stopped off halfway home and took some outfit pictures and I no longer felt like I was being looked at I was so comfortable in it, and actually felt like one of the chic stylish women I see on my Instagram feed and I was absolutely loving it!
Even when I was flicking through the pictures we took in the afternoon I was thinking is that me? and please believe me I know it sounds ridiculous but I’m just never that girl that rocks the trends because I’m always scared i would look stupid because I just guess I don’t think I can pull it off I just don’t think I am that sort of girl, but as it turns out this is one trend I’m rocking at the moment and I am absolutely loving it! Every weekend since I haven’t been caught without it I’m gonna be wearing this bad boy until there’s nothing left of it!

So thank you Kate, for supporting me in my hat picking scenario and babe please get one you looked incredible!
The baker boy hat is such a chic look and it really adds that extra bit of detail to spice up any outfit, jumper = baker boy hat, skirt and a tee-shirt = you guessed it a baker boy hat!

you’ll catch me in this hat until the end of spring, now please excuse me while I go and order myself a couple more because I’m “chic” like that.

What trends are you loving at the moment? have you found something that you thought that you could never pull off but you actually ended up rocking it? let me know in the comments I would love to know!
Until next time! stay confident!
Xx

This is great. I secrety really want that hat, but worry I would just look ridiculous. But you look great in it! Really suits you and I love the whole outfit. It’s good to step out off comfort zone every now and then.

I love this post! You look amazing!

I bought a bright pink fur coat from misguided in November. I originally ordered two, the other in grey in case the pink one was too much but I ended up keeping both. I completely forget it’s quite different when wearing it, the other day I was out and about and it wasn’t until I overheard a little girl tell her mum she wanted a bright pink fluffy coat that I realised why people were looking at me!

I love this post! I’ve always been a firm believer that if you believe you can rock something you definitely can! Thank you for sharing this! I’ve put on a lot of weight recently due to health complications and have lost my love for pushing myself out of my comfort zone. This post has really inspired me so thank you!

    Love,

    Molly xo
